Photo class: First Proof Sheet Shots from Greek Festival at St. Paul's. Let me know which shot seems the most pleasing. I will print my first 8x10 from this roll on Wednesday.

Ugly Art Causes Accident Mike D and I drove up to Los Angeles on Friday to go to an art show, and to watch a buddy of his perfom at the Olympic Improv. A good time was had by all. Those of you who live in Orange County have no doubt seen the hideous Rubix Cube on the side of the 5 freeway in Santa Ana at the Discovery Science Center. I heard the DSC originally wanted to display films on the side of the GIANT CUBE, but they were told it would be too dangerous. Anyhow, I got a good MPEG of Mike and I driving by. Here it is for your viewing pleasure: FREEWAY CUBE MOVIE.
One of the greatest temptations, of course, in trying to sell something is to put it in terms that people will find palatable and swallowable. To reduce it to something that others will find in their powers to believe. But maybe the best apologetics is to present the truth as it really is. Why not present the gospel in all its madness? Why not say things like, "Yes, you will be given your life back again. Yes, it doesn't end with death. Yes, the kingdom will come. Yes, Christ will come down from heaven." Maybe people are hungry for these wild and mad things which some preachers attempt to pull down to earth. -Frederick Buechner, The Door Interview
Going Postal Recently, I listed some of my books on amazon.com for sale. I needed to clear out some space off my floor, and I need to cure the anorexia of my wallet. Once or twice a week, I've been taking all my books to the post office to mail them out (media rate - cheap!). I don't mind going to the Post Office, because there is a very nice Irvine style post office by school. Monday, I was helping a friend in Long Beach and I decided to stop by a post office the LBC - mistake! I enter the post office, and the postal attendants are behind thick bullet proof glass. I thought to myself "I'm not in Irvine anymore." There was a 2 foot high door on my side of the divider where I placed my books, then when I shut the door, she was allowed to open her door and take the books. Overall, it was a pleasant cultural experience.
Some friends of mine performed at the Gypsy Den Cafe, located in the Santa Ana Artist's Colony. The Gypsy Den has great food as well as great atmosphere. Top: Chris (who wrote a really cool poem found here),and his wife, Carolyn. Bottom: Chris and Lance.
