The Picture of Dorian Gray
by Oscar Wilde
Well, if you know me then you know I love this book. I read it over and over again. The story takes a while to get going, but the reader is meanwhile entertained by the lovely paradoxes of Lord Henry. As the story picks up, the reader is engaged. I am perplexed that I cannot seem to make my way successfully through chapter 11. The first few pages are wonderful and contain some of my favorite passages. But as the chapter wears on, I find myself wearied to complete it. I cannot help but skim, if not skip altogether. That criticism aside, the book is simply delightful. |
