Unbreakable

This film was commonly called The Sixth Sense II, but has not lived up to its predecessor's reputation. Unbreakable is slow. And if like me, you don't watch much TV, you had no idea it would turn out to be about what it turned out to be about.

Rating:

Bruce Willis's plays a man who is the only survivor of a train derailment. Not only that, but he comes out unscathed. He is sought out by Samuel L Jackson's character who believes that Bruce Willis is a superhero. The first 90% of the film is spent trying to convince Willis's character that he indeed has super powers. Then the last few minutes are exhausted by Willis believing he is a superhero. At which point the film promptly ends.

The story is kind of lame. The movie trailer shown in theaters did not let on to the fact that it dealt with superheroism. This was a smart move on the part of the promotion gurus. I do give props to Samuel L Jackson for delivering the following (paraphrased) line with a straight face: "I believe comic books portray an exaggerated form of real human history, much like the Egyptian hieroglyphics depict ancient Egyptian history."
