My friend Seth is the master at holiday melon carving. I'm fortunate to be his protege. Here is some of his work and one pathetic example of my own. ![]() Edgar Allen Poe This is the first melon creation I saw of Seth's. Poe is carved in pumpkin. Occasion: Halloween 2000 ![]() Dostoyevsky Dostoyevsky is carved into a honeydew. The appearance is beautiful, but the melon was unforgiving. Seth remarked that a thicker shelled melon would be optimal. Occasion: December 1 2000 (Who needs a reason to have a party and carve melons?) ![]() Bogey and Bacall Bogey is actually a watermelon and Bacall is a summer squash. Occasion: Christmas Party 2000 ![]() Carl Friedrich Gauss (mathematician) I know it looks terrible next to Seth's specimens. But I was proud. This is actually my second attempt. If I can find the photo of the Oscar Wilde melon I made, I will upload it. Occasion: Christmas Party 2000 ![]() Here is my most recent Halloween Costume--Edvard Munch's The Scream Previous costumes include a stalk of asparagus, a can of French's French Fried Onions, a box of Macaroni and Cheese. Somewhere photos of the former two exist, if I can find, I will upload. The latter is so long ago, I don't believe I have any photos. It was also my best work and I consider it my second biggest mistake ever. |
